Terms & Conditions
EULAR School of Rheumatology
General terms and conditions
1. Scope of Application
These General Terms and Conditions apply when you register for educational courses (hereinafter "course/s") offered by the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology EULAR, Seestrasse 240, 8802 Kilchberg, Switzerland, Telephone: +41 44 716 30 30, email: education@eular.org (hereinafter "EULAR").
2. Description of the Courses
2.1. In General
EULAR offers online and live courses.
The scope, the modules, the content, and the duration of the course(s) are described on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website, currently available at https://test-esor.eular.org.
The course, when given online or live, may differ from the description provided on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website. Generally, the courses are updated every year.
2.2. Online Course
The online courses cover a given number of modules, followed by an annual online examination.
As a rule, you must complete a module before being able to access the next one. Following the completion of the last module of the course, you will be entitled to take the examination. The examination is run annually at a given date and time, which you will be notified in advance. For example, if you register for a one-year online course in September and have completed all required modules, you will be eligible to take the online examination in the following year.
If you do not take the examination within the year, either because you have not completed all modules or for any other reason, your course will automatically be extended free of charge for one subsequent year. The same applies if you have not passed your examination. The online examination can be attempted a maximum of twice.
Passing the online examination results in a certificate of course completion and/or a course confirmation.
2.3. Live Course
The live courses generally take place in the form of a conference in a European city and usually last for about two days.
A certificate of attendance might be issued at the end of the live course, where applicable.
Should a speaker be absent on short notice, EULAR will try its best to find a replacement for the planned date. In any case, EULAR will not (even partially) reimburse any fee under any circumstances.
2.4. Language
Unless otherwise specified on the website EULAR School of Rheumatology, all courses are provided in English.
2.5. CME Credits
CME credits are awarded for certain courses when you pass the online examination. For further information, please refer to the course-specific information on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website.
3. Registration, Agreement, and Cancellation Right
3.1. Online Registration and Admission Confirmation
You can register for a course by filling in the online form on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website.
Once you have filled in the form, EULAR will inform you of your admission via email. If the number of course participants places is limited, EULAR generally considers registrations in chronological order of receipt. However, EULAR can also apply other admission criteria.
3.2. Conclusion of the Agreement
The agreement on the course between EULAR and you is concluded once EULAR sends you the confirmation email of your admission.
3.3. Cancellation Right
You have the right to cancel your registration without giving any reason within 14 days from the conclusion of the agreement, i.e. from the receipt of our confirmation email.
To exercise your right to cancel, you must inform EULAR thereof by sending an email or a letter or by phoning EULAR (EULAR Educational Programme, Seestrasse 240, 8802 Kilchberg, Switzerland, Telephone: +41 44 716 30 30, email: education@eular.org).
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
If you cancel your registration, EULAR will reimburse you for all payments received from you in this connection. EULAR will make the reimbursement without undue delay and not later than 14 days after EULAR was informed about your decision to cancel your registration. The reimbursement will occur by the same means of payment as you used to pay the fee.
4. Scientific Faculty
4.1. Names of the Members
On the course-specific information on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website, you will find the names of the members of the Scientific Faculty in charge of the course and those who are the authors and contributors of the courses. You will also find the information on the authors and contributors when starting each online module.
The members of the Scientific Faculty may change each year. As a rule, they will not be changed during the course, although this might be the case in exceptional circumstances.
4.2. Members of International Faculty
All authors and contributors are working on a voluntary basis and without compensation to provide the content of the course and to update it regularly.
5. Teaching Materials
In general, no teaching materials are offered or made available for download. In the event that teaching materials are available, they are included in the fee paid in order to attend the course. Copyrights to the teaching materials remain with EULAR.
6. Examinations
6.1. Online Courses
The online courses terminate with an online examination. The online examination consists of questions, which the examinee has to answer within a set time frame.
6.2. Examiner
The examiner is a medically trained, independent person responsible for the surveillance of the online examination. The examiner receives financial compensation from EULAR.
6.3. Appeal against the Results of the Examination
You have the right to appeal the result of your examination by sending an email to education@eular.org. Your appeal must contain your first and last name, address, email, course identification, and an explanatory statement on why you disagree with the results.
The EULAR arbitration committee will review your appeal. You will receive the decision of the arbitration committee by email within 4 weeks after receiving your appeal. You cannot appeal the decision of the arbitration committee. The appeal procedure is made available on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website.
EULAR handles appeals confidentially; they are recorded and kept for 10 years.
7. Fees and Terms of Payment
The fee for the course, including the examination and teaching materials, if any, is set out in course-specific information on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website. If specifically mentioned, the fee can include benefits such as night accommodation, meals, lectures, workshops, participation in professor events, etc.
The course fee remains unchanged for all courses during the scheduled course period. Revised fees may apply to registrations for subsequent scheduled courses (prices are subject to change). The fee is published when your registration is decisive.
You must pay the fee in advance during the registration procedure. EULAR accepts payments via PayPal and bank transfer. PayPal will ask you to enter into a user agreement for its services, on which EULAR has no influence. Payments for live courses by bank transfer are subject to a handling fee of EUR 40 (no handling fee by PayPal payment).

EULAR does not warrant that the website EULAR School of Rheumatology or the course will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
EULAR does not warrant that the EULAR School of Rheumatology website will be error, virus, or bug-free, and you accept that it is your responsibility to make adequate provision for protection against such threats.
8.2. No Warranty for Technical or Medical Information
The courses are based on the information available at the time of their creation. As the state of the art and medical science are constantly evolving through research and new scientific findings, EULAR does not warrant the completeness, accuracy, and actuality of the technical or medical information.
These courses are not therapeutic recommendations and cannot replace the independent and complete analysis, evaluation, diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment, or other medical activities by a medical specialist.
8.3. Exclusion of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, EULAR excludes any liability for any damages, loss, injury, or liability in any respect suffered out of, or in connection with, the courses and the agreement you entered into with EULAR.
9. Interruption and Cancellation of Courses
9.1. No Interruption
No interruption is possible for the online courses. The course covers a number of modules, followed by an examination at a given date each year. You must finish all modules and take the examination during the course period or during the additional year (see Section 2.2).
9.2. Cancellation
If you cancel a course (or do not appear on a live course), EULAR will not reimburse you, except in cases of hardship (e.g. death in the close family, illness with a doctor's certificate, accident). EULAR decides at its entire discretion if there is a case of hardship, and such a decision is not subject to appeal. In case of hardship, EULAR will reimburse the fee less the costs incurred by EULAR, such as the commissions that EULAR had to pay to PayPal and/or to the credit or debit cards or the payment of non-refundable accommodation, etc.
EULAR will make the reimbursement, if any, without undue delay and not later than 14 days after EULAR was informed about the hardship. The reimbursement will occur on the same means of payment as you used to pay the fee.
10. Complaint Procedure
EULAR aims to provide the highest quality of services to you and values your feedback (positive and negative) and your comments. You can address your feedback and comments to education@eular.org.
EULAR usually addresses complaints within one working week after receipt. If EULAR needs more time to evaluate your complaint, it will inform you of the reasons for the delay within one week.
If a EULAR employee cannot solve the issue directly in an appropriate way and to mutual satisfaction, you can consult the EULAR arbitration committee. You will receive the decision of the arbitration committee by email within 4 weeks after receiving your complaint. You cannot appeal the decision. The complaint procedure is available on the EULAR School of Rheumatology website.
